One of the ELA standards for eleventh and twelfth graders is that as a teacher I am expected to incorporate the strategic use of digital media in presentations to engage the students. I feel like I am prepared to implement this based on my current skill set because I am expected to do this same thing in a lot of my courses. I have been using things like powerpoint and Google Slides for years now to give presentations, and my favorite part about making these presentations was always adding media and making it exciting for those listening, which is what this ELA standard is asking of us teachers. 


When on CPALMS website I found a lot of resources for teachers teaching highschool students, especially for English Language Arts. There are over 1,000 lesson plans and visuals that teachers can use when teaching their students. If I was teaching currently, this would be a great resource for me to use and implement in my teaching. I would definitely be taking advantage of this resource.


Internet searching is a skill that is very important to teach students now, and even at an earlier age than I was taught. Since the internet is an ever-expanding place, answers (whether true or not) are at our fingertips. It is important to teach students the right places to go for research that is factual and reliable. I think I will be using advanced search on Google more often now since that helps to weed out the first layer of answers that might not always be accurate.

    After completing the Web Design assignment, I gained some new skills that will help me in the future as an educator in this time of technological advancement. It was overall a fun assignment, it got me excited for when I will have my own classroom with my own students and parents to communicate with.       Hi everyone! My name is Abigail Puketza and I am a freshman here at Florida State University. I grew up in a suburban town forty minutes north of Philadelphia. I was never a fan of the cold winters or scraping ice off my mom's windshield in the mornings. So, when I was looking for schools, one of the criteria was a warm climate. After touring colleges down the coast, I fell in love with Florida State. So here I am!      Since I entered school around the time where technology was quickly advancing, I am not unfamiliar with the use of it in an educational setting. Each student at my high school had their own Google Chromebook provided by the school district, so most of our assignments were online. Growing up in elementary school, I had "Computer Lab" once a week where my class would take these online courses that taught us how to use Microsoft. Then, in middle school we were required to take a computer course where we continued to learn how to make spreadsheets and format newsletters and things like that. However, there was a sudden shift when we got to high school where all we used was Google Docs since each of us had our own Chromebook. We did not have access to Microsoft unless we used one of the school's desktops, which rarely was necessary considering the resources we had available to us. Google Docs became the standard way in which we completed and turned in assignments all four years of high school. So, I am more used to Google Docs and am a little out of practice when it comes to Microsoft Word.
