In this age of technology and the progression of the internet, it is so easy to simply copy and paste other’s ideas. Copyright laws are what protect that from happening. If something is copyrighted, then whoever uses that picture, video, writing, or concept needs to credit the owner, or else they could be fined. Fair use is when you can use a certain part of someone’s work in certain situations without having to credit the owner. As a teacher, I am going to teach the kids what it means to steal someone’s content and how to properly go about using other people’s work. I will make sure it is a priority of mine to set an example by creating a lot of my own materials so that I myself am not breaking any copyright laws.

Technology is something that does a lot of good, but also a lot of harm. Two things that come to mind are  academic dishonesty and cyberbullying. I have first hand experience with both. In high school, teachers made it very easy to cheat on assignments because they stole questions and problems from free websites that have the answers along with the problems. All the students had to do was google the question and there was the answer, no work had to be done. I will avoid this issue by making my own questions for homework assignments so that the kids have to work for their homework, not just search it up word-for-word. I also have experience with cyberbullying. I was cyberbullied in high school, so I will be able to share my story and give the students a safe place to go if they need help but do not know who to trust or who will understand.

When I was making the newsletter, I was reminded on how to operate Microsoft Word since it has been a while since I have used it extensively. I knew how to do all the skills I used, I just needed refreshing on how to use them effectively. In the future I can add more features and make it more detailed. I will definitely be using this model in the future when I am a teacher myself.

  1. Hey Abbie! Your newsletter design is so cute and is designed really nicely! When I made my newsletter, I also had to remind myself of certain Microsoft Word features, since I hadn't used it in a while. This newsletter assignment was a great way for me to get back into using Microsoft Word and play around with the different tools it has to offer.
